Visual description
Latifa Norzai depicts a figure made up of fine black ink lines and large brush strokes of silver paint, some strokes mixed with pale purple, on white paper. The paper is positioned horizontally. The large figure is located slightly left of center of the page, leaving the right side of the figure in page blank. We see the figure's head, torso, and arms. Their arms and torso end at the bottom of the page. The figure's face is oval-shaped, with two large, round eyes. Short, black lines radiate around each eye, like eyelashes, with a single black dot for each pupil. The nose has a long bridge with two circular nostrils at the base, just above a square mouth that appears to have two teeth. On each side of the head are large, ovular ears, each made with a single, curved line. On top of their head is either unruly hair, a headdress, or something more abstract like clouds of thoughts jetting out from the top of their forehead and around the side of their head. The silver paint, with hints of light violet and oat color, is applied in thick, motion-filled lines evoking water spraying out of a fountain. The figure's body is an elongated, wide oval connected directly to their head, with no visible neck. The dark ink outline of the body is faint, as the majority of the body is covered in large strokes and dabs of silver-gray paint. This application of paint gives the body a feeling of being covered in feathers or large sequins. On each side of their body, there are lines descending to the bottom of the page from the head area, representing arms and hands. The fingers are represented by clusters of organic circles, slightly overlapping each other, similar to a petaled flower. On the right side of the figure's body is a large semicircular shape made up of dabs of the metallic paint. On the left side are three smaller semicircular forms, the first attached to the body at the upper arm, with the second and third attached to the first moving away from the body. These unfilled forms might be wings. The metallic paint, black lines, and dramatic light give the figure an enlightened, glowing appearance, staring directly out at us, perhaps waiting for the answer to an important question.
